Since starting with Boyertown's stage crew in my freshman year, I have become familiar with working in the stage wings: moving set pieces, organizing props, and assisting actors when their mics fall off.
After two years of accumulating knowledge backstage and becoming familiar with our auditorium, I was named "Book." Our "books" are backstage managers during our biggest performances, making me the primary contact between the one calling the show in the back of the auditorium and those backstage under my management.
Producer is a mighty title. My friend was the student producer in our senior year, and for the years prior she led the construction of the set and props for the Drama Club. I was always by her side in her endeavors, and when she took on a higher role, I followed. I facilitated her commands by organizing ideas and setting events, and I became a liaison between the actors and stage crew members, making the end result easier to obtain.
As assistant stage manager I became the #2 for stage crew contact between actors and crew, second only to the one calling the show. Backstage I ensured all crew members were doing as they were told, easing the jobs of the "books" and making the performance a smooth transition from tech to rehearsals and, finally, into the shows.
